America where, before the advent of television or the Internet, a
con man with a heart of gold might outrun his reputation. Harold
Hill sells uniforms, instruments and lessons to a small town in Iowa

Trombones," and "Till There Was You" are a few of the hits from this
beloved American musical classic. THE MUSIC MAN is part of our

Snow White and the
Seven Amigos Fairy tale; Written
by Richard Rosen
Magik Theatre
June 30 – August 7, 2010
Based on the classic Grimm Brothers fairy tale, this hilarious
musical spoof takes place long ago in the mountains of Central
Mexico. The Duke of Valeciana lives in his palace high on the hill
overlooking Guanajuato, a city whose mines produce most of the
world's silver. Snow White, his young daughter, is the happiest
child in the world. One day the Duke brings home a beautiful but
vain bride who carries with her an enchanted mirror. The years pass
and Snow White grows up to be a beautiful young girl. Her
stepmother, the Duchess, who has been asking the same question every
day since she arrived in Guanajuato, asks again, "Mirror, mirror, on
the wall, who in the land is the fairest of all?" When the mirror
tells the Duchess the truth, she becomes obsessed with getting rid
of her stepdaughter. Snow White must flee the city for the high
mountains, where she befriends seven amigos who work the mines. They
take her in and try to protect her, and the rest is a story that can
only come to life onstage at The Magik Theatre.

Much Ado About Nothing
The Classic Theatre of San
Antonio
August 12-August 28, 2010
Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, one of the most popular plays
in the canon, receives a breath of fresh air this summer from the
Classic. When Leonato, the play's hospitable host, decides to play a
party game with his guests, fun becomes fate, deceptions turn to
truth, and seemingly lighthearted craftiness leads to an issue of
life and death. The play stars Asia and Tony Ciaravino as the
combatively lovable Beatrice and Benedick, and San Antonio veteran
actor Bill Gundry as Leonato, and is directed by Andrew Thornton.

The residents of Texas' third-smallest town are getting ready for
the Fourth of July Tuna High School Class Reunion. It's been several

Christmas. Did the romance blossom? Has Didi Snavely received any
"cosmic" communications from the UFO? Have Helen and Inita settled
down with any of their "boyfriends"? This side-splitting spoof of
life in rural America is full of fireworks and fun from the land
where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies.

48 Hour Film Project
The Cameo Theatre
August 19, 2010
The 48 Hour Film Project is nothing new to San Antonio but the
talent and caliber seems to elevate each year. What has now become
an international phenomenon with projects sprouting up in other
major cities around the world, The 48 Hour Film Project comes to San
Antonio for its fourth year. The project will take place on the
weekend of August 13th culminating with film screenings of all
submissions on Thursday, August 19th, 7:00 PM and 9:30PM, at the
Cameo Theatre in St. Paul’s Square, 1123 E. Commerce Street.
Teams from throughout the San Antonio area will complete in a
weekend of filmmaking with a common thread—all must fit their
assigned genre and contain an assigned character, prop, and line of
dialog. The non-stop, wild weekend of San Antonio cinematography
requires teams to develop, write, score, and shoot their film, all
in just 48 hours.
All film submissions for The 48 Hour Film Project will be showcased
at the Cameo Theatre on August 19th at 7:00PM and 9:30PM with a $10
admission for each showtime. At each showtime (7:00PM and 9:30PM)
there will be different sets of films shown. The August 19th
multi-screening at the Cameo Theatre will be the only time all
qualifying teams’ entries will be screened. In keeping with the Film
Projects mission to “advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers”,
everyone is encouraged to attend these film screenings to see what
area filmmakers can do.
Entries for The 48 Hour Film Project are judged in a two-tier
process, first locally—within each competition city. Secondly, the
winner of the San Antonio Film Project will have its film judged
internationally among other city winners. Each is eligible for the
"Best 48 Hour Film of the Year" grand prize award that includes
$3,000 cash prize, state of the art film making equipment, and a
screening at the Cannes Film Festival.
Space for participating in The 48 Hour Film Project is limited and
is on a first come, first served bases. For more information on how
to register for The San Antonio 48 Film Project visit
www.48hourfilm.com/sanantonio. Proud sponsors of the San Antonio 48
Hour Film Project include the Cameo Theatre and Bandera Road
Community Church.
The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance filmmaking and
promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project
encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and
make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely
on the filmmakers—emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While
the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it
is also liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of
"talking."

The Children's Hour
by Lillian Hellman
Shadow Show Theatre Company
August 20-22 & 27-29, 2010
Written in the 1930s, The Children’s Hour is a story of scandal at

rumor that her two headmistresses are romantically involved, the lie
gets out of control with disastrous effects. This classic work,
often considered Hellman’s best, explores the power and irresistible
nature of gossip, while shining a light on the attitudes of the
time.
